Analysis of the application of new CAD technology in compression facility technology

<

1 Since Ivan Suther Land of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) proposed the concept of CAD in 1962, in just over 30 years, the connotation of CAD has been continuously enriched, and the extension of CAD technology itself and its application fields Get expanded quickly. After entering the 1990s, many applications (including CAD technology) that can only be built on large and medium-sized mainframes and workstations have become possible in terms of technical requirements for porting to personal computers. At the same time, due to the low investment and easy operation of the microcomputer, these applications are extremely quickly transplanted to the PC.

CAD technology integrates technologies in various industries and fields such as information technology, manufacturing, and engineering design. At present, all countries in the world attach great importance to the development and application of CAD technology. For example, the ATM program in the United States, the IMS development plan in Japan, the ESPRIT program in the European Community, and the G7 program in Korea are all based on advanced manufacturing technologies based on CAD technology. In China, after the preparation of the scientific and technological development plans such as the Sixth Five-Year Plan and the Seventh Five-Year Plan, it is clear that during the Eighth Five-Year Plan, the implementation of CAD application projects nationwide will be promoted, and this technology will be vigorously promoted and applied in the 863 high-tech development plan. Themed project with advanced manufacturing technology as its content. All of this reflects China’s determination to attach great importance to this technology and to do its utmost to promote universalization.

2 The composition of the CAD system and the main points of PC-CAD implementation

CAD technology combines multiple disciplines and is a high-tech with high complexity and comprehensive knowledge. Correspondingly, the CAD system is a comprehensive system that integrates various technologies and integrates information technology with application technology.

The graphics processing software is the core of the CAD system.

It can be seen from the figure that in addition to the application technology, the information technology involved in the CAD system includes computer software and hardware technology, computer graphics, database methods, engineering numerical analysis methods, intelligent technology, data exchange technology and network communication technology.

In order to implement and effectively apply CAD technology on a PC, high-end microcomputer hardware should be configured as much as possible, and various CAD system software should be selected according to professional application requirements. There are many effective software options available on the market, and users or designers can choose according to their application habits, knowledge background and possible future applications. Here is a brief introduction and comparison of the core of the CAD system, namely graphics processing software.

At present, the graphics processing software applied on the PC is mainly the AutoCAD of Intertodesk and the Microsoft workstation of Intergraph or the secondary development product based on the openness of both. Both have a good user graphical interface (GUI) for ease of use, as well as powerful secondary development capabilities and data exchange capabilities. The difference is that AutoCAD adapts to many models, has many versions and continuously improves performance, and is always upward compatible. Since it focuses on PC applications from the beginning, it has a relatively high installed capacity and user base. The Micro station is a version of Initergraph that was ported to the PC in the 1990s by miniaturizing its host-based IGDS (Interactive Graphics Design System) to meet the potential huge market demand for PC-CAD. Fully powerful, but the user base and installed rate are not large.

Remarkably, Autodesk introduced the PC-based 3D intelligent parametric design software MDT (M echani cal Desktop) in 1996, which realized the hybrid modeling technology of today's high-end U NlX workstation CAD system on the PC platform. It also seamlessly interfaces with CAD/CAE/CAM modules from Au todesk's MAI (M echanical Application Initiative) partners to form a PC-based, product-level, integrated solution from design to manufacturing. Moreover, the M DT operator interface is basically the same as AutoCAD. Most AutoCAD commands can be used in M DT modeling as they are, so it is easy to promote and implement in the design department familiar with AutoCAD. It can be said that the current product-level comprehensive solution from design to manufacturing based on M DT on PC is an effective way for enterprise design departments to realize computer-aided design. The author has done some research on the application of MDT to the three-dimensional parametric design of compressor components.

3 Advantages of CAD design methods and their potential in the field of compressors

The traditional compressor design is similar to the general product design. The commonly used design methods include the iterative design method, the direct design method and the selection design method. Their commonality is that people are always the main body in the design process, and the design environment consists of manual calculation tools, drawing instruments and paper-based data. Whether it is complex calculations or fine mapping, it must be done by the designer himself, so the level of the designer determines the level of design. In addition to the well-known shortcomings of design cycle, low design efficiency and poor design quality, this design pattern is more serious and prominent from a modern point of view, resulting in the waste of design talent and the lack of competition in design solutions. The use of CAD technology for design can effectively solve the designer's two main types of design activities, one is cumbersome calculation, analysis and drawing, and the other is creative thinking and decision making. At present, the conventional CAD system has effectively solved the first type of problem, and the CAD expert system, namely intelligent CAD, will be the most effective way to solve the second type of problem. The final CAD is no longer just Computer Aided De sign, but will evolve into Computer Auto mated Design.

There have been many reports on the application of CAD technology in compressor technology, but most of them stay at the level of auxiliary drawing and auxiliary calculation. Based on the compressor auxiliary design software developed by Nanjing Compressor Co., Ltd., Chen Fang and Jin Tao used the I-Deas engineering design software to realize the CAD system of integrated design, analysis, drawing, testing and manufacturing. However, the system is based on high-end workstations and network communications, so the hardware structure is complex and expensive. Under the current level of hardware and software development, the use of PC-based CAD systems for compressor-assisted design and analysis has broad application prospects.
