Tianhe Group has announced that it has developed a new generation of composite tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) that combines a direct tire pressure detection system (PSB) with an indirect tire pressure monitoring system (WSB).

The role of TPMS is to conduct real-time automatic monitoring of tire pressure while the car is in motion and to alert the tire for leaks and low air pressure to ensure driving safety. At present, TPMS can be divided into direct tire pressure detection system (PSB) and indirect tire pressure monitoring system (WSB).

WSB needs to compare the speed difference between tires through the anti-lock brake system (ABS) wheel speed sensor of the car to achieve the purpose of monitoring the tire pressure. The PSB is a system that uses a pressure sensor mounted on a tire to measure the air pressure of the tire and uses a wireless transmitter to send pressure information from inside the tire to the central receiver module.

Due to the advantages and disadvantages of these two systems, Tianhe combined the advantages of the two systems and developed a hybrid TPMS system. TRW expects the system to be put into production in 2013.
