Box alarm fire in Riverwoods, 9-11-23
This morning, Lincolnshire-Riverwoods Fire Protection District (LRFPD) received an urgent call about a possible house fire at 1975 Rose Terrace in Riverwoods. The homeowner reported seeing flames engulfing their garage, prompting LRFPD to upgrade the emergency response to a Working Fire status. When the first fire engine arrived at the scene, they quickly identified the attached garage as fully involved and initiated a tactical firefighting operation using a 2 1/2-inch hose line.
As firefighters worked diligently to contain the blaze, neighboring departments including Long Grove FPD, Deerfield-Bannockburn FPD, Countryside FPD, and Wheeling FPD were called in to provide additional support. Approximately 30 minutes into the operation, the situation escalated further when other areas of the residence also showed signs of fire extension. In response, LRFPD upgraded the incident to a MABAS Box Alarm, bringing in reinforcements from nearby communities such as Lake Zurich, Mundelein, Gurnee, and Libertyville.
The coordinated efforts of these mutual aid teams managed to bring the fire under control relatively swiftly. Several units were then dispatched back to their respective stations from the staging area.
