Chicago Still on 106th Street

<

Chicago firefighters responded to a residential fire today at 309 W. 106th Street, a two-story frame house in the city's South Side. Engine 93 was the first unit on the scene and quickly found flames coming from the first floor. Firefighters from Truck 27 arrived shortly after and began vertical ventilation, helping to control the fire rapidly. Although Dennis McGuire, Jr. arrived after the flames were extinguished, he captured several photos that give a glimpse into the response. The first image shows members of Truck 27 working on the roof after completing their ventilation efforts. The second photo highlights Engine 93, which was the primary engine assigned to the call. A third shot captures Truck 27 positioned on the parkway beneath large trees, preparing for rooftop access. Notably, the truck they used, E-256, is a spare unit known as an E-ONE 100' rear mount. In another photo, Engine 93 is seen with its 2005 Spartan Crimson pumper (D-627), parked near a hydrant in Sector 1. Truck 27 is visible in the background, showing how both units worked together during the incident. These images provide valuable insight into the coordination and quick action taken by the Chicago Fire Department to contain the blaze before it could spread further.
