· Google will launch road test for driverless cars

<

Google Inc. said recently that starting this summer, the company’s world’s first fully automated driverless car prototype will be on the streets of Mountain View, Calif., where the company’s headquarters is located, under urban road conditions. Test, the car will be arranged to sit in the car.
Google announced a year ago that its driverless car project is developing in a fully automatic direction that completely eliminates human intervention, that is, the car has no steering wheel, throttle and brake pedals and shifting devices, and is completely driven by software and sensors. Google’s first fully automated driverless car prototype now accommodates only two passenger seats, with “start” and “stop” buttons between the seats.
Google said that several of these prototypes will be road tested, each with a top speed limit of 25 miles (about 40 kilometers). A detachable steering wheel, accelerator pedal and brake pedal are mounted on the car to allow the test driver to control the car when necessary.
According to the company, before this, fully automated car prototypes have been rigorously tested at the test site to ensure that the sensors and software are working properly. The prototype uses the same sensors and software as Google's existing driverless car, which has been converted from a Lexus brand. Since Google started the driverless car project six years ago, the drones have traveled autonomously on the road for nearly a million miles (about 1.6 million kilometers).
