Rescue squad has three lives

<

Bill Friedrich shared this fascinating story about a 1991 Ford/Sauber rescue unit that had a unique and varied career across different fire departments.

This vehicle lived three different lives. It first served with the River Grove Fire Department, then was transferred to the Franklin Park Fire Department. After several years there, it was eventually sold to the O’Fallon Underwater Search and Recovery Team in St. Clair County, Illinois.

It's amazing how one piece of equipment can serve multiple communities over the years. Each department added its own touch, and the truck continued to be used for important emergency operations. The photos offer a great look at the evolution of this rescue unit, showing how it adapted to new roles while maintaining its core function. A real testament to the durability and versatility of the Ford/Sauber design.
