Still receiving a response to the box alarm at 11115 South Edbrook.
The incident took place on Friday, December 10th, 2021, in the City of Chicago. The initial location was reported as 111th and Edbrook, but it has since been corrected to 11115 South Edbrook. The cross streets have been updated to 111th and 112th.
The initial alarm was triggered at 22:50 hours by the Englewood Fire Alarm Office (EFAO). Engine companies 62 and 93 were the first to respond, along with Tower 24 from Battalion 22. Engine 62 arrived on scene at 22:52 hours, followed by Tower 62, which had a working response at 22:53 hours under Battalion 22. Squad 5 and 5A, along with Command Van 2-7-5, also responded. Ambulances 5 and 76 from Battalion 21 were dispatched, including a Rapid Intervention Team (RIT) Chief and an EMS Chief 459. Tower 40 from Battalion 22 was also en route.
At 23:15 hours, another company from Battalion 23, the Safety Chief, joined the scene. At 23:26 hours, a Box Alarm was transmitted via Command Van 2-7-5, with Battalion 22 overseeing the operation. Engines 115 and 120, along with District Chief 2-2-5 from Battalion 19, were dispatched as part of the Box Alarm team. An EMS Chief 456 was also assigned to the Box Alarm. Engine 120 was canceled, while Engine 75 was tasked with taking over the Box Alarm duties.
At 23:27 hours, Company 4, responding from Battalion 24 (Plans Chief), arrived on scene. Company 5, representing Battalion 22, also joined at 23:28 hours. The Office of Fire Investigation (OFI) or Arson Unit 466 was also dispatched. Five Change of Quarters (CQ) companies were activated when the Box Alarm was transmitted. These included Engine 82 for Engine 93, Tower 51 for Tower 27, Tower 20 for CQ purposes, Engine 74 for Engine 62, and Battalion 15 for Battalion 22.
As of now, firefighting efforts continue. The situation remains active, with multiple units still on scene. Photos taken by Matt Sosnowski show firefighters actively engaged in battling the blaze.
