Box alarm in Mundelein, 1-6-18

<

On Saturday night, January 6th, 2018, at approximately 8:30 PM, the Mundelein Fire Department responded to a fire at 115 Pinehurst Drive. The incident involved an attached garage that was already fully engulfed in flames upon arrival. Recognizing the potential for rapid spread, Battalion 43 quickly escalated the response by calling a MABAS Box Alarm. Firefighters from multiple departments worked swiftly and effectively, deploying three attack lines to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading into the main house. Despite the intensity of the blaze, the crews managed to limit the damage significantly. One vehicle inside the garage was completely destroyed, while another in the driveway sustained major damage. At the scene, units included an engine, a tower ladder, an ambulance, and a battalion chief from Mundelein. Additional resources arrived from neighboring towns, such as engines from Countryside, Grayslake, and Wauconda, trucks from Libertyville and Lake Forest, a squad from Fox Lake, and Countryside Chief 4100. The coordinated effort demonstrated the strength of regional emergency response. Several photos from the scene are available on Shapirophotography.net. The images include shots of the burning garage, a damaged car, and the responding fire apparatus, including Engine 4317 from Mundelein. A MESS Canteen Service unit was also present, providing support to the crews during the operation.
