The Lake Zurich Fire Department was called to a structure fire around 1:00 AM this morning at 1025 Old McHenry Road. The location is just about 100 yards from their #3 fire station, located at 1075 Old McHenry Road. When the first arriving unit arrived on scene, they found heavy flames on the eastern side of the two-story home. Due to the intensity of the fire, the alarm was upgraded to a MABAS Box Alarm to bring in more personnel. Later, the incident was escalated to a second alarm as the fire required extensive overhaul work. The house, which had been renovated several times over the years, presented challenges for firefighters trying to fully extinguish the blaze. A delay in securing a water supply occurred when the first hydrant near the scene failed to function properly. Smoke pushes from the second floor of this old house at 1025 Old McHenry Road in Lake Zurich.
