Lake Zurich 2nd alarm fire

<

The Lake Zurich Fire Department rushed to a reported structure fire just after 1:00 AM this morning at 1025 Old McHenry Road. The location is only about 100 yards from their #3 fire station, located at 1075 Old McHenry Road. Upon arrival, the first responding unit discovered heavy flames on the eastern side of the two-story home. Due to the intensity of the fire, the alarm was escalated to a MABAS Box Alarm to bring in more personnel. Later, the incident was upgraded to a second alarm as additional resources were needed for the extensive overhaul that followed. The house, which had undergone multiple renovations over the years, posed unique challenges during the operation.

One of the initial challenges was securing a reliable water supply. The first engine company found that the nearest hydrant was not functioning properly, causing a brief delay in water delivery. Despite this setback, crews quickly adapted and worked efficiently to contain the blaze. Firefighters from Palatine Quint 81 were seen working on the roof, attacking the fire from above where interior crews couldn't reach.
