House fire in Buffalo Grove, 4-6-18

On Friday, April 6th, 2018, around 6:30 AM, Buffalo Grove police and firefighters responded to a house fire at 643 Hickory Drive. Upon arrival, officers reported light smoke and fire coming from the rear second-floor bedroom, with all residents safely outside. Arlington Heights Engine 4 was the first fire unit on scene, having just returned from a medical call when the emergency was dispatched. Buffalo Grove Chief 400 arrived shortly after and confirmed the initial assessment from the police. An interior attack was launched, and the incident was upgraded to a Code 4 working fire. Firefighters quickly brought the flames under control, extinguishing the fire within 10 minutes. A total of 12 units were on the scene, including Arlington Heights Engine 4, Buffalo Grove engines 400 and 408, Tower 25, Engine 26, Quint 27, Ambulance 25, Squad 26, and Battalion 4. Additional support came from Palatine Engine 82, Prospect Heights Engine 9, a Barrington ambulance, Long Grove 5500, and Battalion 55. Photos from the scene show firefighters working efficiently, venting windows with pike poles, pulling pre-connected hoses, and connecting to a hydrant. The quick response and coordinated efforts helped prevent the fire from spreading further. No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire is currently under investigation. Local residents expressed gratitude for the swift action taken by first responders.
