St. Charles 2nd Alarm 6/1/11
The St. Charles Fire Department tackled a second-alarm fire at Salerno’s on the Fox restaurant on Wednesday. The Sun-Times has a story here, and the Tribune also covered it here.
No injuries were reported in the incident at Salerno’s on the Fox, located at 320 N. 2nd Street. Fire Chief Patrick Mullen said the fire was first reported at 5:24 p.m., with visible smoke coming from the back of the one-story establishment. “It looks like the area of origin was around the gas meters,†Mullen explained. “It’s a blow-torch situation.â€
Firefighters from ten local departments worked together to combat the blaze, which was fueled by a ruptured natural gas line. Water was continuously applied to the stubborn flames throughout the response.
John Tulipano arrived at the scene and captured several photos of the emergency vehicles that responded.
