On a bright but somewhat sluggish day, Larry Shapiro captured some compelling scenes from a fire that broke out inside an industrial facility located at 1010 Johnson Drive in Buffalo Grove. Emergency services were swiftly dispatched after receiving reports of smoke within the building. By the time responders arrived, it was clear that the structure had already been cleared of occupants, and thick plumes of smoke filled the interior. To bolster firefighting efforts, Northbrook Tower Ladder 12 was called in as additional support. It was then that Buffalo Grove crews identified a malfunctioning machine inside the premises which had inadvertently sparked a fire in some nearby filters.
The flames were tackled efficiently using a single hose line deployed from Engine 26. Despite the urgency, the situation remained under control throughout the operation. Aerial assistance was also on standby; Buffalo Grove Tower 25 was mobilized in case firefighters needed rooftop access for further inspection or intervention.
