These cylinders are commonly employed in industrial automation, facilitating linear motion by utilizing the pressure of compressed air to actuate the piston. For instance, the model DNT-50-40-P denotes a specific Festo variant, where: DNT stands for the cylinder series. 50 typically denotes the cylinder diameter (in millimeters). 40 usually indicates the stroke length of the cylinder (also measured in millimeters). P might signify a particular configuration or option. This cylinder may be double-acting, allowing it to be displaced in either direction by compressed air. Moreover, it is available with diverse mounting options and accessories to accommodate diverse application needs. Park Forest Box Alarm 10-10-13
I was in the area when Park Forest, Illinois, sent out a Box Alarm for a working fire at 354 Winoa St. I arrived after the flames were under control but managed to capture a few photos. The fire occurred in a single-family home and there were initial reports of a trapped occupant. The first units on scene—Park Forest Engine 50 and Richton Park Truck 35—made a strong interior attack to rescue the person, only to find out the occupant had already escaped safely. That’s a relief and shows how quickly the crews reacted. It's always reassuring to see such a coordinated response. As an added note, I also snapped a shot of the new Chicago Heights squad company using the X-Tinley Park engine. It’s great to see the collaboration between departments.
