Sidel launches its own research and development of the first linear blow molding machine

<

From September 12th to 17th, Sidel made a significant debut at the 2005 World Drinks and Liquids Technology Expo (drinktec) held at the New International Exhibition Center in Munich, Germany. During the event, the company introduced its latest innovation: the SBO Compact™ blow molding machine. This new model represents the next generation of entry-level blow molding technology from Sidel and marks the company's first independently developed linear blow molding system. Designed with a production capacity of under 7,000 bottles per hour, the SBO Compact™ series is ideal for smaller-scale operations that require cost-effective and efficient solutions. Unlike high-output rotary machines, the linear design of the SBO Compact™ features fewer moving parts, resulting in a more compact and simplified structure. The machine’s main control system is purely mechanical, ensuring reliable performance and consistent productivity—key factors in maintaining high-quality output. One of the standout features of the SBO Compact™ is its forward transmission mechanism, which allows for optimal bottle strength during the blowing process. This innovative approach minimizes contact between the preforms and the finished bottles, leading to improved packaging quality. Additionally, the modular design of the machine makes it easy to maintain and service, with the blowing unit positioned directly in front of the main body for enhanced accessibility. The SBO Compact™ also includes a universal shell™ mold system, allowing for quick and efficient mold changes. Most custom components are interchangeable, making the machine highly adaptable to different product requirements. This flexibility is especially beneficial for manufacturers looking to streamline their production processes. Despite being an entry-level model, the SBO Compact™ delivers performance comparable to Sidel’s premium plastic series. It achieves a machine utilization rate of over 95% and can produce up to 1,600 bottles per hour. The defect rate is kept below 0.2%, meeting Sidel’s high standards for quality and reliability. The machine is primarily targeted at the carbonated drinks and non-carbonated liquid markets, offering a reliable and efficient solution for small to medium-sized production lines.
