During the conference, executives from major Chinese automobile companies presented updates on their development during the “10th Five-Year Plan†period and outlined their strategies for the upcoming “11th Five-Year Plan.†Zhang Yupu, Chairman of Shaanxi Automobile Group, shared how the company started by introducing Steyr technology and gradually developed its own intellectual property, resulting in the Shanxi Delong model. He also mentioned that a new heavy truck base is set to open soon, supporting the growth of self-branded products.

With an annual production capacity of 300,000 vehicles, the company expects to sell 230,000 units this year and plans to launch a second production base with similar capacity.

Chen Lin from the Ministry of Commerce stressed the importance of focusing on independent development, starting with foundational work such as database construction. He also mentioned that the “Automobile Trade Policy†has been smoothly implemented, along with related measures on brand sales and used vehicle circulation. An expert committee will be formed by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers to evaluate marketing networks.
Jiang Lei, Executive Vice Chairman of the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, emphasized that for the Chinese auto industry, enterprise-driven innovation, marketization, and policy support must go hand in hand. Chen Jianguo from the National Development and Reform Commission pointed out that independent development is crucial for long-term competitiveness and profitability, especially as profit margins shrink. Wang Fuchang echoed these sentiments, urging companies to prioritize innovation, update their strategies, and build social consensus to sustain their independent development path.
