Metso Minerals provides cone crusher for Australia's largest resource company

<

The Metso Minerals has secured a significant contract to supply three conical crushers for BHP Billiton's Newman Hub iron ore project in Western Australia. The equipment is set to be delivered in September 2008, with the total order value reaching approximately 5 million euros. This deal marks an important step in supporting BHP Billiton's ongoing expansion and operational efficiency. The order includes three Nordberg MP800 cone crushers, each equipped with a drive motor, a stand, and an air cooler. The inclusion of the cooling system is essential due to the high-temperature conditions at the site, ensuring optimal performance and longevity of the machinery. Each crusher has an installed power of 600 kilowatts, making them highly efficient for heavy-duty operations. In addition to the equipment, the contract also covers commissioning services and spare parts, providing comprehensive support for the project's success. The Newman Hub project represents a new production facility built on an existing site, aiming to enhance the processing capacity of iron ore. The three cone crushers will be used in a closed-circuit process to further crush the coarse ore, resulting in the annual production of 32 million tons of iron ore (in a size of 32cm x 6cm) and fine iron powder (6cm x 0cm). This increase in output underscores the importance of the project in meeting global demand for high-quality iron ore. BHP Billiton Co., Ltd. is recognized as the world’s largest diversified resource company, operating across multiple sectors including mining, energy, and petroleum. With a strong presence in Australia and globally, the company continues to invest in advanced technologies and sustainable practices to ensure long-term growth and environmental responsibility. This latest order with Metso Minerals reflects BHP Billiton’s commitment to innovation and efficiency in its operations.
