I will realize the autonomous production of nucleotides that will soon break the monopoly of foreign technology within the year

Recently, it was reported that Shandong Shuangfeng Industrial Park has made significant progress in its nucleotide production project. Shandong Shuangfeng Co., Ltd. has invested 65 million yuan to develop a 100-ton-per-year high-purity monomer nucleotides production line (Phase 1) using proprietary enzymatic and separation technologies. The project is currently underway and is expected to be completed and operational by the end of this year. This milestone marks a major breakthrough for China's nucleotide industry, as it will finally break the long-standing foreign technological monopoly, achieve full-scale industrial production, and reduce reliance on imports. The development is expected to have a profound impact on downstream industries such as medicine, food, agriculture, and health products. Nucleotides, which are deep-processing derivatives of RNA, play a crucial role in various sectors including pharmaceuticals, food, and agriculture. For decades, the production technology of these high-value-added compounds was dominated by a handful of countries, including the U.S., Japan, South Korea, and Germany. These nations imposed a 30-year technical blockade on China, limiting domestic production and forcing reliance on expensive imports. During the "Sixth Five-Year Plan" period, Chinese research institutions attempted to tackle the issue, but commercial-scale production remained out of reach. At that time, the annual output of single nucleotides in China was only around 25 tons, with Shandong Shuangfeng accounting for 20 tons of that. Mononucleotide products are highly valuable, with international prices reaching nearly $280,000 per ton. China imports approximately 180 tons annually, but due to the technological restrictions, all imported nucleotides are of food-grade quality, with purity below 90%. This has severely limited the growth of the nucleotide industry and hindered the development of related sectors like pharmaceuticals, health supplements, and agriculture. Shandong Shuangfeng Co., Ltd. has been at the forefront of nucleotide research in China. In June of this year, the company began construction on its 100-ton-per-year high-purity mononucleotide project. The project was recognized as a National High-tech Industrialization Demonstration Project by the National Development and Reform Commission, receiving a grant of 6 million yuan. Local governments also provided financial support to ensure the success of the initiative. The project utilizes patented technology developed jointly by Shuangfeng and East China University of Science and Technology. This innovation brings multiple advantages: the nucleotide conversion rate reaches up to 95%, 15% higher than traditional methods; total yield increases from 35% to 67%; product purity rises from 90% to 98%; and production costs are significantly reduced, with enzyme-related costs dropping from 15% to just 1.5% of total expenses. Additionally, the process eliminates waste emissions entirely and allows for year-round continuous production, unlike traditional methods that were limited to spring, autumn, and winter seasons. Once operational, the project is expected to generate an additional 180 million yuan in annual sales revenue and contribute 28 million yuan in profits and taxes.
