Method for judging the drying of Chinese medicinal materials

<

In order to prevent moldy worms during storage of Chinese herbal medicines, drying methods are usually used. The degree of dryness of Chinese herbal medicines has a greater impact on the safe storage of Chinese herbal medicines. In recent years, many business units use instruments to determine the degree of dryness of Chinese herbal medicines. However, because of the lack of instruments, the processing and drying of agricultural production areas is based on empirical identification. Specifically according to the following method to determine whether the Chinese herbal medicine is dry.
Hand judgment method. For leaves, flowers, or all kinds of Chinese herbal medicines, if the hand breaks easily broken and the leaves and flowers become easily powdered by hand, the degree of drying reaches the safe storage standard. Soft and not easily broken or crushed, it indicates that it is not dry and cannot be stored safely. It needs to continue drying.
Hand insertion bite judgment method. As for Chinese herbal medicines such as fruits and seeds, they can be easily inserted by hand and feel no resistance. It is hard to bite them with teeth. These are dry signs that can be stored. If the resistance is large when the hand is inserted, it is not easy to insert it in the end, even if there is a moist feeling, the fruit or seed adheres to the hand, or the tooth bite, the hand insertion feels soft, and all are not dry, and need to continue drying.
Tap judgment method. The sound of the dried medicinal material was dull and brittle when hitting each other, indicating that it was not dry and needed to be further dried. However, for some herbs with high sugar content, such as Guiyuan meat, asparagus, etc., the sound after drying is not crisp, it should be judged by other criteria.
Judging from the section characteristics. For roots, rhizomes, and stems, they were broken, and the cross-section color was uniform. There was no clear dividing line between the middle and the outside, indicating that it was dried. If the cross-section color is inconsistent, it indicates that the herbs are not dried or the cross-sectional color is still the same as that of the fresh ones. These are all signs that they are not dry and need to continue drying.
Texture judgment method. The dried medicine material is hard, brittle, hard to bite and folded. Soft textures indicate that they are not dried and cannot be stored safely. Drying is required.
